In more exciting news, KRP has been approved on Steam Greenlight, so it will be launching on Steam, to compete with KartKraft! It will be very interesting to see how the two titles stack up on release, and my mindset is, the more the merrier! If you want to jump in right now, you can still buy into the beta on the official website. It has been updated to 2016 specs, and it does look quite good! PiBoSo released a video of the track, with a few laps being run with the Oculus Rift. Lonato, the circuit featured in the demo of Kart Racing Pro, has also seen a facelift. Many minor adjustments have been made as well, including the simulation of aerodynamics, and the way the chassis works under load.

The biggest update is the implementation of the new Oculus SDK, improving support for the Oculus Rift CV1. It has also progressively evolved over the years, and has just had its 15th Beta release! PiBoSo’s brainchild, and original self-published sim is a surprisingly good drive. The mesh of bright colours, lively effects and stunning animations all culminate to give a set of tracks, character models and other lively aspects that make this game a real visual spectacle. With KartKraft quickly building up speed towards its impending release, you could be forgiven for forgetting about another great karting simulator, Kart Racing Pro. Then the environments themselves are beautiful and true to their source material. The sound quality and musical score is brilliant and serves each environment perfectly. Having visited the four permanent Singapore go-karting tracks, I have summarised the differences between each below, and I can say that local petrolheads have never been this spoilt for choice. The game also does a fantastic job of presenting itself as well. Karting, or carting, is the first rung on the ladder that leads to F1, and it’s an activity that the entire family can take part in. Perhaps it’s Nintendo that are looking to other kart racers for inspiration these days. Many of these changes would be included in Mario Kart 7 and perhaps took away from the innovative strides this game made but don’t be fooled. Then there are the aspects of the track that will have you float across the water, soar through the skies or use other environmental effects to make navigation more than just wheels on the track action. As you proceed through a course, the track will change with each lap on most occasions, adding an ever-changing environment which only serves to add more of a hectic and frantic style to the races. The standout changes from the tired kart racer tropes are the dynamic aspects of driving and the environments. This kart racer does an awful lot to avoid falling into the usual bracket of ‘just another Mario Kart clone’ and to its credit, it really succeeds in this respect. They include powdercoated diecast aluminum pads, a wireless and backlit LCD screen, and a foam-lined, hard-shell case with heavy-duty. Proper setup equals successful performance, and these kits deliver the implements you need at an incredible price.

Then you have characters from other great series such as Alex Kidd, Wreck-It Ralph, Football Manager and the game even has some real-world additions such as Nascar legend Dannica Patrick and Yogscast member Simon Honeydew. Proform slim wireless vehicle scale kits include the right equipment to ascend for victory. The game obviously leans on the success of the Sonic franchise with pretty much all the key characters from the series making an appearance. Unlike the previous Sega kart racing outing, this game really bolsters its roster, cutting the less noticeable names and adding some really interesting additions.
